Sticky Orange Tuna Steaks

I know I only just recently posted a tuna steak recipe up here and bragged about how wonderful the dish was but that dish focused more on the accompaniments rather then the actual steak. In this recipe the tuna takes center stage and it really is a wow dinner. The sauce is out of this world with the orange complimented by the salty soy sauce and herbs. The sauce becomes sticky and coats the steak well. In the original recipe it called for four tuna steaks but I like to have loads of sauce with mine so I cut it to three. You can marinate this for up to 24hrs if you wish just make sure your tuna steak is nice and fresh when you start. Couscous is a great side to serve this with as it doesn’t affect the amazing flavors from the dish.

Sticky Orange Tuna Steaks (Serves 3)

1/4 cup orange juice

1/4 cup soy sauce

2tbsp olive oil

1tbsp honey

1/2tsp dried parsley

1tsp dried basil

3 garlic cloves, minced

salt and pepper

3 tuna steaks

  • Whisk together the orange juice, soy sauce, olive oil, honey, parsley, basil and garlic in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Lay the tuna steaks flat out in a baking dish and pour the marinade over them. Make sure they are all coated then cover and leave in the fridge to marinate for at least 30mins.
  • Preheat the grill to high and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the tuna steaks on the prepared sheet and grill for 5-6mins then turn and cook for a further 5-6mins on the other side. Make sure to spoon the sauce over the steaks when turning.
  • You can also cook them in a frying pan over a medium heat for 5mins on each side.
  • Season with salt and pepper again if desired and serve with couscous/rice and a fresh salad.
